Unemployment benefits will expire today because the Democrats failed to pass an extension. In addition to unemployment benefits, the legislation would have held off the planned 21% Medicare pay cut to physicians. The battle arose because the Democrats wanted to put the $10 billion dollar price tag on the federal charge card like they always do despite the fact that they could have used already appropriated stimulus funds or even returned TARP funds. Senator Jim Bunning objected to the Democrat scheme and showed what real courage is in Congress. The Democrats could have easily passed the bill with Senator Bunning’s vote if they had just agreed to pay for it rather than again borrow the money. At any rate the bill only extends the benefits for 30 days like everything Congress does, it just keeps putting off the hard decisions. Read more

The Republican primary for the U.S. Senate has turned into an argument over who is more pro-life. Abortion is always an important issue in Republican primaries so when you have three staunch pro-life candidates, each are trying to distinguish themselves by proving their pro-life bona fides. It has now gotten so foolish that Trey Grayson and Bill Johnson are ganging up on Rand Paul because he has said he would accept abortion law being decided on a state level if protections could not be secured at the national level. For those who were still in diapers in 1973, that was the law of the land before Roe v. Wade. Each state decided abortion laws and it was illegal or at least restricted in all states. Obviously, a much better situation than we have presently. If the Supreme Court struck down Roe, abortion laws would again be decided at the state level. Read more

McCain Attacks Fellow Republican Hayworth
Filed Under National | Leave a Comment
Senator John McCain is strongly attacking his fellow Republican challenger J.D. Hayworth in Arizona with ferocity we wish we had seen when he ran against Barack Obama. It is not unlike the false accusations we are seeing locally by Secretary of State Grayson against his Republican opponent Rand Paul. If these progressive Republicans would only behave this way against the Democrats who are dismantling our Constitution, they wouldn’t have challengers. But then they wouldn’t be progressives, would they? This political infighting may sabotage a Republican victory in November.

Audacity – brazenness, disrespect, gall, impertinence, insolence, nerve, presumptuousness, rudeness. Audacity is certainly an apt description of the Obama administration. The latest audacious behavior of this team is Vice President Biden taking credit for success in Iraq! Read more

The Fools of Global Warming
This is so rich and delightful it’s impossible not to take note and comment. For nearly the last two years the global warming wackos have been thwarted at every turn. Those countries not infected with political correctness don’t buy the global warming garbage and aren’t going along with the program the GW con men are trying to push on everyone, not to mention the GW conferences that have been held where aberrantly cold weather would have embarrassed right thinking people.
