Governor Steve Beshear is working hard to help Kentucky felons. He has granted more than 700 pardons to convicted felons since March including murderers, rapists and sexual abusers. Now he is doing his best to restore their right to vote and run for office. Apparently the prior requirements to pay a $2 fee, write an essay and get three recommendations to regain the right to vote was considered too burdensome. It is good to know the Governor is so busy helping somebody. Read more

Gov. Beshear changed state policy regarding lowering flags to half-staff. How Have We Gone From Reagan To The Possibility Of Obama?

John Adams wrote:
“We have no government armed with power capable of contending with passions unbridled by morality and religion.” “Religion & virtue are the only foundations, not only of republicanism and of all free government, but of social felicity under all governments and in all the combinations of human society.” “Statesmen, my dear sir, may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone, which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand.”

Senator Barack Obama was in Iraq yesterday. Despite his first hand observations of the success of the surge in Iraq, Obama still refuses to admit it. In an interview with Terry Moran of ABC news, Senator Obama could not bring himself to support the surge, even in hindsight. Senator McCain has supported the surge from the beginning when it was very unpopular. McCain has repeatedly stated that he would rather lose an election than see the U.S. lose a war. Tucker Bounds a spokesman for the McCain campaign stated in reference to Senator Obama’s position… “A candidate who places his political ambition ahead of our national interest does not pass the threshold to be commander-in-chief.”

Yarmuth’s stubborn opposition to domestic oil drilling is believed to be playing a significant role in these results. It looks like we have a real horse race!
