Romney-care’s meltdown in Massachusetts is showing us right now what we can expect from Obamacare in a few short years, and it ain’t pretty.  On April 1, the Massachusetts Division of Insurance, at Governor Deval Patrick’s explicit direction, denied the vast majority of the rate increases for individuals and small businesses that the state’s health insurers had proposed.  That effectively capped those rates at last year’s levels. Unfortunately our wishful thinking that Bart Stupak would hold the line and be a principled man like William Wallace of Braveheart was unfounded.  Stupak has caved and more accurately resembles Robert the Bruce betraying his countrymen to the likes of Barack Longshanks.  This is likely to go down as one of the darkest days for the cause of freedom and liberty in the United States as Democrat party forces their socialist agenda on an objecting American populace.  It is a disgrace!!

A good summary of the anti-life aspects of the Senate Health Care  Bill from Catholic Vote

The Senate Health Care Reform Bill spends taxpayer dollars on health care plans that fund abortions, spends $12 billion on Community Health Centers that Planned Parenthood will be eligible for, gives the Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius the right to declare abortion as a pre-existing condition to be covered under every health care plan in the federal exchange under the Mikulski Amendment, eliminates conscience protections for insurance providers and fails to ensure them for doctors and nurses, trip-wires the direct funding of abortions if external legislation is repealed, and forces everyone including men and old women to pay at least $1 (to be raised under jurisdiction of Congress) to a fund for “reproductive rights” that will cover 100% of the cost for anyone who gets elective abortions. To say that the Senate Health Care Reform Bill is the greatest expansion of abortion since Roe v. Wade is an understatement.

The present health care reform plans are not just making some minor changes here and there but are undertaking a complete redesign of health care in America.  The question arises who are the President and the Democrats listening to for expertise in health care?  Clearly President Obama has NO expertise in health care.  Clearly Senator Reid and Nancy Pelosi have absolutely NO expertise in how health care works.  Yet they are the main players directing the complete overhaul of health care. Democrat Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid, has stated previously on the Senate floor that defensive medicine is a myth.  That may explain why he scoffs at the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office estimate that malpractice reform would reduce the federal deficit by $54 billion a year or $540 billion over 10 years.  Reid believes that savings from malpractice reform would be a drop in the bucket compared to the overall cost of the new government run health care plan.

Let’s get this straight.
We’re going to pass a health care plan written by a committee, whose head says he doesn’t understand it,
Passed by a Congress that hasn’t read it, but exempts themselves from it,
Signed by a president who also hasn’t read it, and who smokes,
With funding administered by a treasury chief who didn’t pay his taxes,
Overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and
Financed by a country that’s nearly broke.
What possibly could go wrong?

Reading the Health Care bill is very worthwhile.  If you do you will discover as early as page 16 under SEC. 102. PROTECTING THE CHOICE TO KEEP CURRENT COVERAGE that your present private health care insurance can be grandfathered in.  However, if there are any changes whatsoever, it will then have to conform to the public option rules, i.e. it will not survive.  At any rate, all grandfathered private plans will have to conform to the public option plan after a five year grace period.  The net result of all of this is that private health insurance will wither and die on the vine.  This is clearly Obama’s goal and he has been saying as much for the past couple of years.  In Obama’s own words “I don’t think we are going to be able to eliminate employer coverage immediately”.

Obama demonstrates his disregard for physicians and his lack of knowledge about day to day health care.  Obama accuses pediatricians of removing tonsils to make money.  Apparently he is not aware that pediatricians don’t remove tonsils.  I guess they must be getting a kick-back from the ENT specialist for referring the child for tonsillectomy.
